USA have named their squad to face England in Kobe on Thursday and will be “fizzing” for the fixture, believes England scrum coach Neal Hatley.

The Eagles’ 23-man squad contains eight players based in England, among them Saracens tight-head prop Titi Lamositele, and Hatley said: “It was Tonga’s first game last night and this will be America’s first game. We expect them to come out like Tonga did — fizzing.”

England forwards coach John Mitchell was head coach of the USA when they qualified for the tournament

and Hatley expects to tap into the New Zealander’s inside knowledge. “Having Mitch is handy,” he said. “There are a lot of players he brought through.”

The Eagles are coached by Gary Gold, who Hatley knows well from their time at Bath, and the South African said: “When the power and the pace comes from England, we need to have the vigour from a defensive point of view. You need to match fire with fire.”
