Irish want wise guys for Paris

Invention: Declan Kidney wants Ireland to play off the cuff
10 April 2012

Ireland coach Declan Kidney is urging his team to be inventive against France on Sunday.

Kidney wants the Grand Slam champions to play off the cuff when they bid for their first victory in Paris since 2000.

"We have a broad plan but the boys will also have to think on their feet," said Kidney. "You can try and second guess France but that's dangerous. France's set-piece is strong, so is their continuity and off-load game. They bring the unexpected.

"We'll just have to attack what we see in front of us. That's the way Irish teams need to play. Our style allows out players to exploit gaps.
"We need to be smart — if we play the same way every time, teams will cut us down."
