13 April 2012

Marlon Samuels has been reported to the International Cricket Council for a suspected illegal bowling action during the West Indies third Test defeat against South Africa in Durban.

Umpires Simon Taufel, Aleem Dar and Brian Jerling were unhappy with one delivery and ICC match referee Roshan Mahanama said: 'Concerns have been raised by the match officials over the legality of Marlon's bowling action with particular reference to his 'fast ball' when viewed with the naked eye.

"We are therefore requesting the ICC to commission a biomechanical report into the bowler's fast-ball action in accordance with the process introduced in 2005."

Andrew Strauss was outscored on his Northern Knights debut by fellow Englishman Alex Gidman. England A captain Gidman made 54 for Otago Volts while Strauss hit 39.
