Schumacher unworried by fourth place

13 April 2012

Michael Schumacher wasn't too perturbed by his worst qualifying position of the season.

The German is only fourth place on the grid in his home Grand Prix.

But Schumacher does not mind as long as Coulthard is behind him at the end of the 45 laps.

However, the World Champion was surprised by the display of the Williams team.

He said: "If Williams keep up this performance in the race then I expect them to disappear into the distance.

"I'm not in a position to fight for the win and there's nothing we can do unless we get a little bit of rain!

"But the most important thing is that David is behind me on the grid. When you are unable to fight for pole position then you automatically look for where your nearest rival is.

"So in this respect I feel reasonably comfortable, but I believe it will still be a difficult race because I expect David to be competitive, even if he wasn't today.

"The main thing is to finish ahead of David, even if the two guys up front disappear and take away the points.

"And as for the record, I've said it would be nice to equal it here, but it's not a problem if I don't. Although I will not give up until the final flag is down."
