Should they stay or should they go now?

Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he wants to cut the size of Chelsea's squad to a more manageable 24 players, but Peter Kenyon admits getting rid of the club's big-name stars will not be easy.

Chelsea's chief executive said: "There's a balance between being able to compete in all competitions and keeping the squad happy and there's a general feeling that 21 plus three goalkeepers is the optimum size. The ideal squad is 24 but whether we can get there this season is another matter."

Despite Kenyon's caution there are likely to be some notable departures this summer with Juan Veron the first big name to go.

Chelsea used 28 players last season - Carlton Cole, Alexei Smertin, Mikael Forssell and Boudewijn Zenden were on loan at other clubs and Arjen Robben and Petr Cech have already signed for next season so a cull is required.

Here is Standard Sport's guide to Mourinho's 24 likely lads as well as the possible 'ins and outs' in what will be another busy summer.
