Sir Alex Ferguson pledges to field a strong side at Hull

13 April 2012

Sir Alex Ferguson has promised not to damage the reputation of the Premier League by fielding a weakened team at struggling Hull.

With Manchester United due to defend their Champions League crown against Barcelona on Wednesday, it had been speculated that Ferguson could influence the relegation battle by selecting a second string for a match the hosts may need to win to stay up.

But the United boss said: "I think it's important to a league that has the best integrity in the world. We will play our part in that. No matter which team I will play, I expect us to win. No one should worry themselves unduly about the team I put out."

Darren Fletcher, who is suspended against Barcelona, Rio Ferdinand, who has returned to training after a calf injury, and Nani could all feature at the KC Stadium.
