British shooting duo James Huckle and Jonathan Hammond bowed out of the Olympics today after failing to make the final of the 50metre rifle three positions.

Huckle, 21, in what is his preferred event, and Hammond, 31, were unable to break into the top eight who competed for medals this afternoon.

Huckle ended the morning in 25th place while Hammond, who was let down by his standing position, finished last of the 41 competitors.

Niccolo Campriani, of Italy, topped the rankings with America’s Matt Emmons, who missed out on gold with his final shot at the past two Olympics, qualifying in second place.
