New review into Aaron Cook non-selection

7 June 2012

The World Taekwondo Federation will review the selection process which has seen Aaron Cook rejected three times for a place in Great Britain’s Olympic team.

The British Olympic Association asked GB Taekwondo to reconside their decision to chose Lutalo Muhammad for the under 80kg division, given that he is ranked 59 places below world No1 Cook.

“We’re extremely disappointed by the British Taekwondo’s selection process and it is clear the lack of a conclusive rationale has caused confusion,” said WTF secretary general Jean-Marie Ayer adding that his organisation could not overturn the decision.

The BOA’s Olympic Qualification Standards Panel will consult with the WTF before deciding whether to finally approve GB Taekwondo’s choice of Muhammad.
