The Tokyo Olympic Games are now officially into their final week but it still feels as if some of the action is just getting going, particularly at the athletics track.

Here’s what you’ve missed overnight on Monday…

Muir through amid 1500m drama

Great Britain’s Laura Muir is safely through to the semi-finals of the women’s 1500m and is joined by team-mate Katie Snowden, who ran a personal best in the third heat to qualify.

There was all sorts of drama in the race in-between as Sifan Hassan, the world champion who is attempting a 1500m, 5,000m, 10,000m treble at these Games, was tripped and fell with 350m to go, but sprang to her feet and caught the leaders to win her heat.

Tentoglou claims tightest gold

After last night’s shared gold in the men’s high jump final, this morning’s long jump equivalent brought similar drama as Cuba’s Juan Miguel Echevarria and Greece’s Miltiadis Tentoglou recorded identical best jumps of 8.41m.

There were no such niceties here, though, as the Greek took gold by virtue of having the better second-best jump.

India stun Aussies in historic win

India’s women pulled off a stunning quarter-final upset over Australia to reach their first-ever Olympic hockey semi-final.

The Aussies are three-time champions but were beaten 1-0 by the Indians, whose previous best showing was in finishing fourth at the 1980 Games, when a round-robin format was used.

Sailing medal races postponed

Britain’s sailors were hoping to join Team GB’s medal rush on Monday but their races have been postponed because of a lack of wind at Enoshima.

Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey were due to go in the 49er FX, while Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell compete in the men’s 49er.
