Stunned Lewis looks to rematch

13 April 2012

Lennox Lewis immediately set his sights on a rematch after he was sensationally knocked out in the fifth round by Hasim Rahman and lost his world titles.

"Boy, I can't believe it. I got caught with a good shot. I didn't even see it. I felt fine and felt I was winning the fight," said Lewis.

"I definitely want a rematch as soon as possible. No way he can beat me again. I felt I was definitely winning the fight but this is what happens in heavyweight boxing.

"If you get caught with a good shot you go down and if you don't beat the count that's it, fight stopped."

New world heavyweight champion Rahman said: "I told you all I was confident. Not one time since the fight was made was I nervous.

"He came out and tried to dictate the pace but I wouldn't let him.

"I never took an opponent serious before this. I felt like if I didn't train properly he would have the edge.

"I kept my prayers going and did all my training. And I came up with one punch...one punch.

"I felt that the longer the fight goes I would have a chance. There can be no excuses from him."

Promoter Frank Maloney said: "On the night the best man won. You can't say more than that."
