England found themselves in the field for their opening World Cup Group B match after Holland won the toss.

Kevin Pietersen would therefore have to wait a few hours for his first chance to open the batting in a one-day international.

England made only one change to the team which beat Pakistan in their final warm-up match in Fatullah, bringing Graeme Swann straight in after his arrival in the country two days ago. The off-spinner stayed at home to attend the birth of his first child Wilfred but was selected at the first opportunity, in place of slow left-armer Mike Yardy.
