Andy Murray will start this year's Wimbledon challenge by facing Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin on Tuesday afternoon, fresh from a record-equalling fourth Queen's Club title.
The Scot won at the All England Club in 2013 to end Britain's wait for a British Wimbledon champions and he warned rivals ahead of the championships that he is in better shape now than he was two years ago.
“I’m playing better than then, I feel,” he said. “I think you just have to improve; otherwise I wouldn’t still be in the same position.
“If you don’t continue to improve and get better, there is going to be people that will take your spot.
“I feel like I have improved. Physically I’m definitely in a better place than I was then. I feel like I’m using my variety very well just now, something that maybe I wasn’t the last couple of years. That’s been good for me. I have more experience, more matches.
“It’s been a great week for me. Hopefully I can continue that form through to Wimbledon. I will keep trying to do my best and hopefully play like that more often. This has been perfect preparation.”
