Katie O'Brien was left ruing what might have been after she was beaten 6-2, 5-7, 6‑4 by Iveta Benesova.

At 108 in the world, O'Brien was expected to struggle against her more experienced Czech rival, ranked 73 places higher. But after losing the first set the British No3 fought back to take the second and grab a 3-1 lead in the decider.

That's when it seemed O'Brien realised she might reach the second round and the edge went from her game. "I probably had more chances but she took the ones that she had," said O'Brien.
