Roger Federer books Miami Open quarter-final spot with win over Daniil Medvedev

Roger Federer moved into the Miami Open quarter-finals with a straight sets victory over Daniil Medvedev.

Three-time champion Federer beat 13th seed Medvedev 6-4 6-2 in a rain-delayed clash carried over from the previous day.

The 37-year-old struck with the first break of the opening set at at 4-4 before recovering from 40-0 down to win the next game.

Federer then broke his Russian opponent again in the opening game of the second set, and for a third time at 4-2 up, en route to completing victory in just over an hour.

The fourth seed will face South African Kevin Anderson in the last eight.
