Tigers turn to Kayser

12 April 2012

Leicester have signed France A international Benjamin Kayser from Stade Francais.

The 22-year-old hooker played against Leicester in the Heineken Cup quarter-final at Welford Road this season.

He joins Wales hooker Mefin Davies in signing for the Tigers this summer, and will bolster their squad during the World Cup.

But Leicester forwards coach Richard Cockerill insists Kayser is more than just a cover signing, saying: "We believe he is the best young hooker in France.

"He has come through the Academy at Stade Francais and for us to sign him shows what strong desire there is from players to come to Leicester Tigers.

"He is a good ball-runner, he has played a lot of French championship games so he is good at the set-piece, and we think he will get even better with Leicester."
