Two minutes enough for Vine to choose QPR

Rowan Vine admitted today he joined Queens Park Rangers because he had no chance of getting a game at Birmingham under Alex McLeish.

"I had one chat with the new boss, which lasted about two minutes," said the 25-year-old striker.

"He told me he had never seen me play and although it might seem a bit harsh, I would not be needed.

"I admired his honesty. He wants players he knows already."

Meanwhile Michael Mancienne managed to play an hour for the reserves on his comeback from a hamstring injury.

The defender helped QPR keep a clean sheet in their 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.

Charlie Sheringham almost scored for Palace but Aaron Goode cleared off the line.
