United deny £10.5m Ayala bid

13 April 2012

Manchester United have strongly denied claims by Valencia that they have made a £10.5million bid for Roberto Ayala.

The Spanish club claim they rejected the offer and that the centre-half is not for sale.

Valencia press officer Jesus Paniagua said: "We have received an offer of 2,800million pesetas (£10.5million) from Manchester United for the player."

However, United have dismissed the Spanish club's claims and insist they have not tabled a bid for Ayala.

Director of communications Paddy Harverson said: "We have not made a bid for Roberto Ayala."
