Unlucky Hunt out for eight weeks

Charlton's Andy Hunt has been ruled out of action for a further eight weeks with post-viral syndrome.

The 30-year-old striker has been sidelined by the illness since September.

After consulting one of the top specialists in the country, Hunt has now been told he needs to rest for another two months.

Hunt said: "I was really struggling in the first few weeks of the season and I found it difficult to get round the pitch. I simply had no energy and it got to the stage where I couldn't play or train.

"I would become ill for the next few days, but the specialist told me it was a post-viral fatigue syndrome. He said it was a follow-on from the glandular fever I had last season and that it is not unheard of in athletes.

"I panicked at the beginning because I didn't know what was wrong.

"I have been told to get it completely out of my system and come back fresh.

"I just want to get back to normal and start playing Premiership football again."

Charlton manager Alan Curbishley said: "We expected Andy to be out for around 10 weeks and he has already done eight of them.

"But he has not recovered sufficiently to start training again."
