Versatile Hewat's unstoppable as London Irish axe Dax again

Going for the try: Peter Hewat
13 April 2012

London Irish outclassed Dax for the second time in six days to take total control of their European Challenge Cup pool with a 59-7 victory at Reading last night.

Peter Hewat, who switched from full-back to outside-half, collected 24 points and England No15 Delon Armitage signalled his return from England duty with one of their eight tries. There were two touch downs each for Warren Fury and the strong running Elvis Seveali'i.

* Chris Wyles is bidding to regain his Saracens full-back role after appearing in three Tests and three legs of the IRB World Sevens Series for the USA. Wyles's sevens and full Test rugby programme with the USA took him to the Bahamas, Japan, the Middle East and South Africa but he will be at Watford on Sunday, where a Sarries win against Bayonne in the European Challenge Cup will keep them top of their pool.

* Premier Rugby have agreed a three-year TV deal with Sky and Setanta worth £54million for Premiership rights.

The deal starts in the 2010-11 season when the number of games screened live - with Setanta showing two thirds of them-will more than double from the present level of 33 to 69 per season.

* Oxford University won the Varsity Match, defeating Cambridge University 33-29 with Tim Catling scoring the Dark Blues' first hat-trick in the fixture for 88 years.
