Wenger weighs up his case for the defence

14 April 2012

Arsene Wenger is weighing up whether to defend a Football Association charge of improper conduct after effectively labelling Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy as a "cheat" following last month's clash at Old Trafford, when the Dutchman fouled Ashley Cole.

The Arsenal manager, who can defend his case at a personal hearing or plead guilty and accept a fine, said: "I have 14 days to think about it and I am thinking only of what is ahead of us. I was quite surprised but I have no special comments as we want to go on with football and what is in front of us."

Wenger was also asked about Tony Adams' decision to quit as Wycombe manager and said: "He will come back. He had the first taste. It was the first experience of one year."
