Wildcats to sign Winterstein

12 April 2012

Wakefield will bolster their pack with the signing of Canterbury Bulldogs' Samoan forward Frank Winterstein, as long as he is able to secure a visa.

The 22-year-old Winterstein, who made five appearances in the NRL last season, is a former Australian schoolboy international and was a member of the Samoan squad for the 2006 Federation Shield in England.

The player is currently waiting for a visa and Wakefield are hoping he will be available to join them within a month.

Several overseas players - including Leeds signing Greg Eastwood - have been denied entry into this country by the UK Border Agency but Wildcats are confident Winterstein meets all the relevant criteria.
