Winning start for England

Surbiton forward Matt Daly and Richard Alexander of Old Loughtonians both scored on their senior hockey international debuts as England won the opening Test of their four-match series 5-1 against South Africa in Pretoria.

The final match of the Under-21s tour was abandoned after 19 minutes because of a storm but the tourists were already leading 2-0 in the series.
