Going down: Lindsey Vonn crashed out of the slalom section in the super-combined
13 April 2012

Lindsey Vonn's hopes of a clean sweep of the women's alpine medals ended when she crashed out of the slalom section in the super-combined.

Holding a 0.33-second lead over Maria Riesch after the downhill, Vonn straddled a gate and fell, handing gold to the German. The American said: "I went down fighting."

Brits bounce back

Britain recovered from a 4-3 defeat against Switzerland to beat Denmark 9-6 and keep their bid to reach the semi‑final of the men's curling alive.

Skip David Murdoch said: "We had a good start against the Danes and we're delighted with that win."
