Wise sues Leicester for £2m

13 April 2012

Dennis Wise has taken his dispute with cash-starved Leicester City to the High Court, with the former England midfielder launching an action to sue the club for £2.36 million.

Wise's contract with the club was terminated in August after he fractured team-mate Callum Davidson's jaw in a late-night altercation on a pre-season tour of Finland.

Wise, now with Millwall, challenged his dismissal but a four-man tribunal panel ruled last month that Leicester were within their rights to sack the former England star.

This latest development comes at the worst possible time for Leicester, with the club understood to be around £30m in debt.Leicester supporters' club chairman Cliff Ginetta said today: "I half expected him to take some action against the club. It's one bad story after another."
