Woody's lifeline for Luger

Dan Luger, who last played for England in the World Cup quarter-final victory over Wales, was today given a chance to relaunch his international career with a place in the 60 strong Elite Player Scheme squad.

Head coach Clive Woodward has nominated the players he wants released on agreed dates by their clubs for England training session during the next 12 months.

Luger was ignored during the Six Nations after leaving Harlequins for Perpignan.

Meanwhile, Jason Robinson has been named as Sale's captain for the new season.
