Star Trek Discovery: Name of new Netflix series revealed as release date draws closer

The wait is nearly over for Star Trek fans as the name of the new Netflix series has been revealed.

Star Trek: Discovery will hit UK screens in January, with episodes available 24 hours after the US.

The show's executive producer Bryan Fuller announced the title which comes from the name of the starship Discovery.

All 727 episodes of previous Star Trek television series including the original 1960s show will be available to watch on Netflix by the end of the year.

Production on Star Trek: Discovery will begin in Toronto in September.

It will be the first Star Trek television series since Star Trek: Enterprise ended in 2005.

The cast of the new show has yet to be revealed.
