Battle of the cattle: Canadian farmer's steer named Dozer is one inch taller than Australia's Knickers

A Canadian farmer claims he has an even bigger steer than the 6ft 4in Australian one named Knickers.

Farmer Karl Schoenrock, who runs Kismet Creek Farm, an animal sanctuary 50 miles south of Winnipeg claims the steer, Dozer, is one inch taller than Knickers.

When he saw news of Knickers, it prompted him to measure Dozer, who at last count a few years ago stood at 6ft 3ins.

Mr Schoenrock said Dozer “loves to meet people” and is “very gentle."

But, Dozer’s size does not make life easy for him.

His legs struggle to hold up his weight, creating issues in his tendons.

As a result, Mr Schoenrock and his wife Raelle, have to rub pain-relief cream into his legs.

His owner, Rebecca Hanuschuk, told local news outlet Steinbach “he doesn’t stop growing, the tendons in his back legs are beginning to break down a bit as a result of his size.”

Dozer, like Knickers, was saved from a beef farm and he is also the same breed - a Holstein Friesian.

Knickers is reported to weigh 1.4 tonnes - more than a small car - and, he it had made it to the abattoir, could make as many as 4,000 hamburgers.

But, the two enormous steers fall short by two and three inches of the Guinness World Record holder for the tallest living steer, which belongs to an Italian cow named Bellino.
